Charta práv dětí v nemocnici ("EACH Charter") jako nástroj posilování a ochrany etických aspektů pediatrické hospitalizace

Abstract

Charta práv dětí v nemocnici (EACH Charter) je mezinárodní dokument vytvořený v 80. letech 20. století Evropskou asociací na podporu dětí v nemocnici (European Association for Children in Hospital - EACH). Vznik Charty lze interpretovat jako reakci na stav, kdy podobu dětské hospitalizace - i samu dětskou nemocnici jakožto instituci - daleko silněji utvářejí aspekty technické, ekonomické a provozní, než aspekty etické. Charta de facto zvýrazňuje konkrétní situace, v nichž se pediatrická praxe opomíjením potřeb dítěte a ignorováním nebo tolerováním nikoli nevyhnutelného trápení stává neetickou. Cílem mé práce je uchopit vznik a vývoj Charty EACH právě z této perspektivy a následně prozkoumat etické implikace, které z principů, na nichž je Charta založena, plynou pro dnešní české pediatrické zdravotnictví.

The Charter of rights of children in hospital (the EACH Charter) is an international document authored by the European Association for Children in Hospital (EACH) in the eighties of the twentieth century. The Charter can be perceived as a response to the fact that a child's stay in hospital - and paediatric hospital as an institution - is strongly influenced and formed by economical, technological and administrative aspects prevailing over the ethical ones. The Charter highlights specific situations where the health care profession - by neglecting children's needs and ignoring and/or tolerating avoidable suffering - becomes unethical. The aim of my thesis is to scrutinize the ethical appeal of the EACH Charter and to explore the Charter's ethical implications for contemporary paediatric practice in the Czech Republic.
