Filozofická fakulta Univerzity Karlovy v Praze v letech 1945-1953

Abstract

Bakalářská práce by měla nastínit obecný přehled KU v Praze a její Filozofické fakulty v poválečném období v letech 1945 - 1953. V této práci bych tedy rád popsal situaci na univerzitě a Filozofické fakultě po skončení II. Světové války a jejich vyrovnávání se s faktem budoucích změn, které se tolik dotýkaly jak samotné struktury univerzity a fakult, tak i jejich autonomie a zcela nového přístupu k vysokoškolskému vzdělávání. V úvodu práce se budu zabývat stručným shrnutím stavu fakult univerzity po skončení války a jejich nesnadných začátků. Ve středu zájmu bude rovněž hektický mimořádný letní běh roku 1945, který měl probíhat v rozmezí několika týdnů a ne jedna fakulta se musela vyrovnávat s velkým náporem studentů z předchozích let. Palčivým poválečným problémem Filozofické fakulty, na který bych chtěl v bakalářské práci poukázat bylo její složité vyrovnání se s vysokým počtem studentů, kteří se hlásili na fakultu a další, kteří se během okupačních let "nahromadili", stejně tak i na zahájení výuky, resp. problém s prostorami, kde učit a rovněž na ne malý problém s zúžením profesorského sboru fakulty. Dalším významným činitelem univerzity a fakult, který bych chtěl alespoň stručně v základu popsat je studentstvo, resp. studentské spolky. This Bachelor's thesis examines the situation at the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts, Charles University, Czechoslovakia, in the aftermath of World War II, specifically during the tumultuous period from 1945 to 1953. It outlines the difficulties the University faced in the early post-war years in trying to cope with large numbers of students who had been unable to complete their studies due to the war, and who now wished to enroll. It also describes key events that intimately affected the University, such as the 600th anniversary of the founding of the University and the "Victorious February" of 1948, which decidedly changed the University's traditions. The thesis outlines the gradual change and ideological transformation of the University following the Communist takeover of February 1948. I illustrate societal and university developments during the period using the example of Professor Václav Čern, who served as a faculty member since the 1930s until his expulsion, on ideological grounds, in 1951. Many other faculty members, as well as students and staff, were forced to leave the University following ideologically driven inspections.
