Street art - subkultura post graffiti

Abstract

Záměrem předložené práce je představit zcela současné umělecké hnutí, které se nazývá street art, post graffiti či urban art. Součástí tohoto záměru je, kromě odlišení od hnutí graffiti a představení nejvýznamějších tvůrců a technik, pokus o aplikaci subkulturních teorií a teorie sociálního pole Pierra Bourdieu. Základními zdroji pro předloženou práci jsou publikace Street Logos a Stencil Graffiti od Tristana Manca, Street Art od Julie Reineckeové, Art of the Rebellion od Christiana Hundertmarka, sborník The Subcultures Reader, který sestavila Sarah Thorntonová společně s Kenem Gelderem, články publikované v časopisech a denním tisku a také rozhovory s tvůrci a jejich diskuze publikované na internetu. Autorovi se podařilo také přímo kontaktovat dva tvůrce prostřednictvím elektronické komunikace. Metodou práce je vzhledem k povaze tématu převážně deskripce a uspořádání zdrojových materiálů, profilů hlavních představitelů a jednotlivých technik. V teoretické části se práce pokouší aplikovat na předmět zájmu několik převážně sociologických teorií ve snaze pečlivěji popsat dynamiku procesů v dané subkultuře. The purpose of this paper is to introduce a contemporary art movement often referred to as street art, post-graffiti or urban art. One of the components of this thesis, besides differentiation from the graffiti movement and an introduction of the most important artists and techniques, is an attempt to relate subcultural theories and Pierre Bourdieu's theory of social field to the movement. The primary sources used in this paper are Tristan Manco's Street Logos and Stencil Graffiti, Julia Reinecke's Street-Art, Christian Hundertmark's The Art of the Rebellion, The Subcultures Reader edited by Sarah Thornton and Ken Gelder, articles published in various magazines and newspapers and also interviews with the artists and their discussions, which have been published on the internet. The author of this paper was also successful in contacting two of the artists via email. Because of the nature of the subject, the methods applied in this paper are mostly a description and understanding of the source materials, profiles of the main artists and their techniques. In the theoretical part, the paper attempts to apply relevant sociological theories to describe the dynamics of the processes in the given subculture.
