Fiktion, biographie und dokument in der narrativen prosa von W.G. Sebald

Abstract

This dissertation is devoted to fiction, biographical and documentary work in the prose of the German author W. G. Sebald. W. G. Sebald was a unique character with a distinguished way of storytelling on the post-war German literary scene with. Most topics thet were paid attention to in his books were related to Germany and its history. Sebald was one of the early Germanists, who wrote in German language and who followed the topic of the civil inhabitans' misery during the air raids of the Allies over Germany in World War II. Another important topic in his books was the Holocaust and he also frequently dealt with the relationship between the Jews and non-Jewish people in Germany. W. G. Sebald's books are difficult to be put in a particular category. His work actually breaks boundaries between categories, between non-fiction and fiction. The Author himself denied the categories in literature. He called his prose "the fictional prose". A unique junction of fiction and facts, biographical and autobiographical elements, the books of travel, architecture and country descriptions together with reflections and fictional essays is typical of this author's books. Also characteristic of his texts is the usage of pictures and photographs, mostly black-and-white, scattered freely in a text.

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá využitím fikce, biografie a dokumentu v próze německého spisovatele W. G. Sebalda. Jsou zde analyzována především jeho čtyři beletristická díla: Schwindel. Gefühle (1990), Die Ausgewanderten (1992), Die Ringe des Saturn (1995) a Austerlitz (2001). Z těchto děl vyšli česky pouze Die Ausgewanderten (Vystěhovalci) v překladu Radovana Charváta (2006). W. G. Sebald byl jedinečnou postavou německé poválečné literární scény, a i když žil více než třicet let v dobrovolném exilu ve Velké Británii, přesto ho lze právem považovat za německého spisovatele. Všechna svá díla psal výhradně německy a také témata, kterým se ve svých knihách věnoval, souvisí s Německem a jeho historií. Sebald byl totiž jedním z prvních německy píšících germanistů, kteří se ve své tvorbě věnovali tématu utrpení civilního obyvatelstva během náletů spojeneckých armád na Německo během druhé světové války. Dalším významným tématem jeho prací byl holocaust a často se zabýval také vztahy mezi židovským a nežidovským obyvatelstvem Německa před druhou světovou válkou a během ní. Sebald trpěl tím, že patří k německému národu, a brzy po dosažení dospělosti se odstěhoval do Anglie. Ani tam ho však historie jeho národa nepřestala pronásledovat. Celý život se snažil vyrovnat s vinou svých předků. Proto se ve svých dílech...
