Václav Černý. Intelektuál v době normalizace

Abstract

In my thesis I attempted to portray the career of professor Václav Černý. Václav Černý was a significant czech scientist and schoolmaster of The Faculty of Arts of The Charles University. During his life he encountered the totalitarian power, whether the nazists or communists. In the title of my thesis I labeled Václav Čeřný as an intellectual. By the term I understand a scholar who is interested in the general questions and if necessary he or she is willing to involve him/herself in the in the struggle for enforcement of the truth and liberty. The crux of my thesis is illustration of the life of Václav Černý in the time of normalization in Czechoslovakia. In 1970 there started the propaganda against him and he was chosen as a main target of its attack. In the thesis I tried to find an answer for why just he was chosen for it. I also looked for the answer how he replied to the conditions when czech culture, especially literature was under controll of the totalitarian power and a large part of bookmen and scientist could not publish their works.

Ve své diplomové práci jsem se snažila postihnout životní osudy profesora Václava Černého. Václav Černý byl významným československým vědcem a pedagogem Filozofické fakulty Univerzity Karlovy. Během svého života se několikrát střetl s totalitní mocí, ať už šlo o moc nacistickou nebo komunistickou. V názvu práce jsem V. Černého označila jako intelektuála. Při definici tohoto pojmu jsem se přiklonila k pojetí, které takto označuje vzdělance, kteří mají zájem o obecné věci a v případě potřeby jsou ochotni se angažovat za prosazování pravdy a svobody. Hlavním těžištěm mé práce je zmapování života V. Černého v době normalizace. V roce 1970 proti jeho osobě byla spuštěna propaganda, kterou byl vybrán za hlavní terč jejích útoků. V této práci jsem hledala odpověď na to, proč se jím stal právě on. Hledala jsem také odpověď na otázku, zda a jakým způsobem V. Černý reagoval na situaci, kdy česká kultura a zejména literatura byla pod kontrolou totalitní moci a velká část literátů a vědců nemohla publikovat.
