Abstract

This work provides a comparison of Alexandre Dumas' novel The Count of Monte Christo with its contemporary digest and musical versions. The thesis defines the term of mass communication outlines its basic features leading in simplification and better communication of the messages to a viewer of today. The essence of the work is the analysis of the classical text of the novel and its confrontation with the simplified digest version and its musical adaptation. Together with it, adaptive versions of the work, their new means of expression and to them linked present day message are analyzed and compared simultaneously.

Tato práce nabízí komparaci klasického textu A. Dumase "Hrabě Monte Cristo" s jeho současnou digestovou a muzikálovou verzí. V úvodu práce je vymezen pojem masová komunikace spolu s nastíněním jejích základních rysů, které vedou především ke zjednodušování a lepší komunikatelnosti nejrůznějších sdělení pro dnešního vnímatele. Jádrem práce je rozbor klasického textu románu a jeho konfrontace se zjednodušenou digestovou verzí a muzikálovou adaptací. Paralelně s tím jsou zkoumány, porovnávány a hodnoceny adaptační proměny díla, jejich nové výrazové prostředky a jimi nabízená současná výpověď.
