2001The paper concentrates on rertility patterns in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. To find differences and common reatures or rertility development in both republics was the purpose or the comparative study. The study covers main periods or development. The course or demographic revolution in both population is the first period under examination. The second one is development offertility level after World War II. The more detailed analysis concerns on the last decade or 20th century, the period or rapid and unexpected changes in demographic behaviour. Total rertility rate, completed rertility, mean age or women at childbearing, age specific rertility rates and proportion or extra marital births were the main characteristics used ror this comparative study.
