Sesuvná území v Malé Úpě v Krkonoších =Landslide areas at Malá Úpa in Krkonoše (Giant) Mts

Abstract

Landslides are rare phenomena in Krkonoše Mts. Two best known landslide areas are at Dolní Malá Úpa in the valley of brook Kraví potok along the road connecting Spálený Mlýn and church at Dolní Malá Úpa (see Fig.1).Landslidemovements have been known and described here at least since 1968. At the locality near Javor Hotel landslides are of sheet and flow types. The main reason of last slide movement are changes in slope stability due to buildingactivityat Javor Hotel

Land and intensive rains. At the locality near church at Dolní Malá Úpa main landslide movement is linked with melting of snow in spring time and following erosion of unnamed brook. The main danger of renewinglandslidesactivities lies in their root areas. The most important thing is to preventleaking of water into old and newly generated fissures. It would be useful to consider the other potential slides areas in Krkonoše Mountains inorder toreduce further slide damages caused by these phenomena
