2015This article presents a method of digital cliff drawing that is used in the production of large-scale topographic maps by the Land Survey Office of the Czech Republic, with respect to the history of topographic mapping in the Czech Republic and former Czechoslovakia, which greatly influenced contemporary digital processing. The core of this article details the principles of this type of digital rock portrayal, illustrated with a variety of examples. The method described is based on filling a polygon with lines that resemble stylized hachures. The advantages, disadvantages and limitations of this approach are also discussed.
