2011This paper explores changes in the ethnic composition of Russia’s 89 federal regions, which resulted from the dissolution of the Soviet Union, during the 1990s. Based on the 1989 and 2002 censuses, the paper analyzes changes in the proportion of Russians to the titular nations from a geographic perspective. It also identifies dominant ethnic processes taking place in Russia, during the 1990s.
