Knihovna jako genderovaný prostor

Abstract

In my dissertation I will discuss the gender analyses of layout in the institution, the Prague Central Library. The Central Library is by definition a public space which should be accessible to all who are interested in literature and reading. I will be concerned with how the Central Library works with the concept of public space (explicitly and implicitly), how indoor spaces are constructed and allocated in selected library branches, with how this organization reflects or does not reflect normative gender stereotypes of or ideas about readers, and other intersectional gender consequences. My research will primarily be focused on the exploration of the placing of genres in the space and the gender aspect of visitors preferences when choosing literature. V diplomové práci se budu věnovat genderové analýze prostorového uspořádání instituce Městská knihovna v Praze. Městská knihovna je z definice veřejný prostor, který by měl být přístupný všem zájemcům a zájemkyním o literaturu a četbu. Zajímat mne bude, jakým způsobem Městská knihovna pracuje s konceptem veřejného prostoru (explicitně i implicitně), jak je vnitřní prostor v předem vybraných pobočkách knihovny konstruován a členěn, jakými způsoby tato organizace odráží či zpochybňuje normativní genderové představy či stereotypy o čtenářstvu a jaké má toto uspořádání genderové a další intersekcionální důsledky. Svůj výzkum budu zaměřovat především na zkoumání způsobu prostorového rozmístění žánrové, odborné a dětské literatury a na genderové aspekty preferencí návštěvníků knihovny ve výběru literatury. Zajímat mě ale bude i kontextuální zasazení poboček Městské knihovny do svého okolí a další služby, které knihovna nabízí.
