Zuzana Lomozová, Ph.D. Názov diplomovej práce: Vplyv benzoových kyselín, metabolitov flavonoidov, na železom katalyzovanú Fentonovu reakciu Oxidačný stres je stav, kedy dochádza k zvýšenej produkcii voľných radikálov, ktoré prekročili endogénnu antioxidačnú aktivitu a vedú k poškodeniu biomolekúl. Rada ľudských ochorení je spojovaná s oxidačným stresom. Použitie antioxidancií ale v klinickej praxi zlyhalo, je možné, že sa na tom podieľa i fakt, že v prípade zvýšenej koncentrácie antioxidantu, alebo pri rôznych patofyziologických stavoch organizmu môžu antioxidanty vykazovať preferenčne prooxidačnú aktivitu. Rôzne in vitro a epidemiologické štúdie potvrdili prítomnosť antioxidačných a prooxidačných vlastností u flavonoidov. Avšak na základe ich farmakokinetiky je zjavné, že po per orálnom príjme týchto látok dochádza k signifikantnému metabolizmu v hrubom čreve, kedy v interakcii s črevnou mikroflórou vznikajú malé fenolické látky. Naskytá sa tu možnosť, že antioxidačné a rizikové prooxidačné vlastnosti, ktoré boli pripisované flavonoidom sú v skutočnosti vlastnosťou ich metabolitov. V našej práci sme sa...

A number of human diseases are associated with oxidative stress. However the use of antioxidants has failed in clinical trials, but it is possible that the fact that antioxidants may preferentially exhibit prooxidant activity under elevated antioxidant concentrations in various pathophysiological conditions. Various in vitro and epidemiological studies have confirmed the presence of antioxidant and prooxidant properties in flavonoids. However, on the basis of their pharmacokinetics, it is evident that after their oral intake, significant metabolism in the colon takes place, where small phenolic substances are formed in interaction with the intestinal microflora.
