Wirriyamu: kolonialismus očima Williamse Sassina

Abstract

This bachelor's thesis covers the work of a Guinean writer Williams Sassine: Wirriyamu. In the first part, with the help of historical sources, it describes the reality of a former Portuguese colony: Mozambique. It also clarifies the circumstances of the Wiriyamu massacre. The second part evaluates the findings in a comparative analysis of the fictional world of Sassine which the author uses to reflect the colonial reality. Specifically, it compares three problematics: clash of cultures, languages and religions, representation of different points of view on colonization in the novel Wirriyamu and lastly economic-social aspects of colonization.

Bakalářská práce se zabývá dílem guinejského spisovatele Williamse Sassina: Wirriyamu (v českém překladu Jarmily Ortové: Džunglí kráčí smrt). V první kapitole s pomocí historických zdrojů popisuje realitu bývalé portugalské kolonie: Mosambiku. Přibližuje také okolnosti masakru ve Wiriyamu. Ve druhé kapitole hodnotí poznatky v komparativní analýze fikčního světa Sassina odrážejícího koloniální realitu. Konkrétně porovnává tři problematiky: střet kultur, jazyků a náboženství, reprezentaci různých pohledů na kolonizaci v románu Wirriyamu a nakonec ekonomicko-sociální aspekty kolonizace.
