Erika Mann: Das politische Kabarett im Kontext der damaligen Kabarettbühnen Deutschlands

Abstract

This thesis deals with the life and work of Erika Mann and her political cabaret Die Pfeffermühle in the context of the German cabaret scene at that time. The aim of this work is to present Erika Mann's life and the four-year existence of her cabaret, while reflecting on their significance in the present day. The rise of the German cabaret scene at that time is presented through examples of the most significant cabarets such as Die Katakombe, Kabarett der Komiker, or Schall und Rauch. These had a substantial influence on the appearance of Erika Mann's cabaret, which operated as an artistic opposition against National Socialism from 1933 to 1937. A part of this work also includes the interpretation of selected texts from Die Pfeffermühle, providing an authentic insight into the political and societal situation of that time, with themes such as tolerance, justice, or equality that still remain relevant today. Both Erika Mann and the form of political cabaret have something to offer to society even today. This is demonstrated through the presentation of the performance Erika Mann? by the German-Czech cabaret Das Thema, which was introduced in 2021. Tato diplomová práce se zabývá životem a dílem Eriky Mannové a jejím politickým kabaretem Die Pfeffermühle v kontextu tehdejší německé kabaretní scény. Cílem práce je představit život Eriky Mannové a čtyřletou existenci jejího kabaretu ve své době a zároveň reflektovat jejich odkaz v době dnešní. Rozkvět tehdejší německé kabaretní scény je představen na příkladech nejvýznamnějších kabaretů (jako byly Die Katakombe, Kabarett der Komiker nebo Schall und Rauch). Ty výrazně ovlivnily podobu kabaretu Eriky Mannové, který v letech 1933 až 1937 působil jako umělecká opozice proti politice národního socialismu. Část práce tvoří rovněž interpretace vybraných textů kabaretu Die Pfeffermühle, které poskytují autentický pohled na politickou a společenskou situaci té doby a díky svým tématům (jako je tolerance, spravedlnost nebo rovnost) jsou stále aktuální. Jak Erika Mannová, tak forma politického kabaretu mají společnosti co nabídnout i dnes. Tuto skutečnost dokládá i představení Erika Mann? česko-německého kabaretu Das Thema, uvedené v roce 2021. Představení je v práci podrobně rozebráno na základě rozhovoru s jedním z jeho představitelů. Výsledkem této analýzy je komplexní obraz o Erice Mannové, který díky jejímu osobnímu charismatu a nadčasovosti její kabaretní činnosti může přispívat k lepšímu porozumění...
