The Phenomenology of the World in Eugen Fink's Thought (1928-1938): Pre-Givenness, Non-Being, Phenomenality

Abstract

Koncept světa hraje u Eugena Finka klíčovou roli po celou dobu jeho myslitelské dráhy. Cílem předložené práce je zmapovat peripetie konceptu světa ve Finkově ranní filosofii, kterážto se přibližně kryje s časem, který strávil jako asistent Edmunda Husserla ve Freiburgu. Opíraje se především o Finkove pracovní poznámky, práce se usiluje o rekonstrukci Finkovy vlastní pozice ve stálém kritickém dialogu nejenom s Husserlem, ale také s Heideggrem, Kantem nebo Heglem. Obzvláště ve druhé polovině práce vystupuje Martin Heidegger jako Finkův hlavní partner a zároveň jako primární terč Finkovi kritiky. Pokoušeje se interpretovat Finkův koncept světa zejména jako odpověď Heideggrovi na pozadí jeho filosofie, práce postupuje směrem k rozvíjení Finkovy meontické fenomenologii jakožto prostředí, jež jako jediné skýtá prostředky, které umožňují náležitě tematizovat transcendenci a posléze i samotný svět.

For Eugen Fink, the concept of the world plays a crucial role throughout his philosophical career. The aim of the present thesis is to establish the vicissitudes of the world-concept in Fink's early philosophy, broadly matching with the time he spent as Edmund Husserl's assistant in Freiburg. Relying primarily on Fink's working notes, an effort is undertaken to reconstrue Fink's own position in a constant critical dialogue with not only Husserl, but also with the likes of Heidegger, Kant, or Hegel. Especially over the second half of the thesis, Martin Heidegger emerges as Fink's main partner and likewise the main target of Fink's criticism. Attempting to read Fink's world-concept primarily as a response to Heidegger against the backdrop of the latter's philosophy, the thesis proceeds towards Fink's meontic phenomenology as a medium only through which the transcendence proper and consequently the world itself become appropriately thematizable.
