The Institution of xnr in the New Kingdom

Abstract

Tato doktorská práce se zaměřuje na roli žen v kultu během 18. a 19. dynastie, zkoumá především instituci xnr. Na rozdíl od převažujících názorů si klade za cíl prokázat, že pr-xnr nebyl v této době harémem. Práce zkoumá aktivní účast žen na rituálech azdůrazňuje jejich neodmyslitelnou roli během nich. Výzkum se zabývá soundou do individuálních životů jednotlivých držitelek titulu wr.t-xnr, zejména jejich kariérami. Kromě toho práce ilustruje, jak se ženy z vysokých pater společnosti zapojovaly do boje o moc a přispívaly k monopolizaci moci v rámci kultu. Hlavním cílem je rekonstruovat organizaci a fungování instituce pr-xnr během tohoto historického období.

The focus of this doctoral thesis is the role of women in the cult during the 18th and 19th Dynasties, primarily examining the institution of xnr. Contrary to prevalent beliefs, the thesis aims to demonstrate that the pr-xnr was not a harem during this era. It explores the active participation of women in rituals, emphasising their integral role in these practices. The investigation delves into individual female dignitaries, presenting their careers through a sondage into the title wr.t-xnr. Additionally, the thesis illustrates how elite women engaged in power dynamics, contributing to the monopolisation of power within the cult. A central objective is to reconstruct the organisation and functioning of the pr-xnr institution during this historical period.
