Historie dolních Novoměstských mlýnů v Praze

Abstract

Bakalářská práce se soustředí na historii dolních Novoměstských mlýnů, a to konkrétně na s nimi spojenou vodárenskou věž vyskytující se na území tehdejšího Nového Města v Praze. Zaměřuje se především na historický vývoj vodárny v oblasti tzv. dolního Nového Města - Novomlýnské vodárenské věže v dnešní Petrské čtvrti. Práce si klade za cíl v kontextu dějin mlynářství a vodárenství objasnit význam a funkci věže pro obyvatele dané městské čtvrti, ale i město samotné. Její úloha byla velmi těsně spjata s původními mlýny, které se do současnosti již nedochovaly. Z tohoto důvodu jim v rámci bakalářské práce bude věnována větší část pozornosti. Na příkladu dnes již zaniklého Helmova (později Kubešova) mlýna se práce pokusí nastínit fungování a každodenní život této oblasti. Rovněž se práce snaží zachytit podobu a proměny prostředí dolního Nového Města u vltavských břehů v časovém rozsahu přibližně od počátku 14. století až do období její asanace na počátku 20. století. V práci byly využity též kartografické prameny a historické fotografie k ilustrování původní podoby Prahy v porovnání se současným stavem, které se nacházejí v příloze.

The bacherol's thesis focuses on the the history of the Lower New Town Mills, specifically on the associated water tower in the territory of the former New Town in Prague. It mainly deals with the historical development of the waterworks in the area of the so called Lower New Town - the New Mill Water Tower in todayʾs Petrská district. The thesis aims to explain the importance and function of the tower for the inhabitans of the district and the city itself in the context of the history of milling and waterworks. Its role was very closely linked to the original mills, which have not survived to the present day. This is the reason, they are the focus of my bacherol thesis. Using the example of the now defunct Helmʾs (Kubeš) Mill. Also the thesis will attemp to outline the functioning and daily life of this area. The thesis also strives to capture the form and changes of the environment of the lower New Town on the banks of the Vltava River over a time span from approximately the beginning of the 14th century to the period of its renewal in the early 20th century. Cartographic sources and historical photographs have also been used to outline the original appearance of Prague at that time in Prague comparison with its current state.
