Sprach- und Kulturkontakt am Beispiel von drei deutschen Übersetzungen des jiddischen Dramas Der Dybuk: Zwischen zwei Welten von S. An-Ski

Abstract

Tato práce se zabývá jazykovým a kulturním kontaktem mezi jidiš a němčinou na příkladu tří překladů jidiš dramatu Dybuk: Mezi dvěma světy autora S. An-Skiho, které vyšlo v roce 1919. Pozornost je zaměřena na dva překlady z dvacátých let 20. století, které byly oba vydány v Berlíně s odstupem necelého roku. Práce zasazuje dílo do historického a kulturního kontextu, přičemž se zaměřuje na německé překlady. V teoretické části je jazyk jidiš představen jako komponentní jazyk s vysokým podílem elementů německého původu. Následuje stručný úvod do teorie překladu. Praktická část se skládá z rozboru vybraných částí jednotlivých překladů. Překlady jsou srovnávány nejen mezi sebou, ale i s původním textem, a jsou diskutována jednotlivá rozhodnutí překladatelů. Srovnání dvou překladů z 20. století je na závěr doplněno o srovnání s poválečným překladem z roku 1976. Cílem práce bylo identifikovat rozdíly a popsat, jak překladatelé pracovali zejména s kulturními slovy, jakým úskalím čelili a jak se lišily jejich překladatelské přístupy. This thesis focuses on the linguistic and cultural contact between Yiddish and German using the example of three translations of the Yiddish drama Dybuk: Between Two Worlds by S. An-Ski, which was published in 1919. The focus is on two translations from the 1920s, both of which were published in Berlin less than a year apart. The thesis places the work in its historical and cultural context, focussing on the German translations. In the theoretical section, Yiddish is presented as a component language with a high proportion of elements of German origin. This is followed by a brief theoretical introduction to translation theory. The practical part consists of analysing selected sections of the translations. The translations are compared not only with each other, but also with the original text, and the individual decisions made by the translators are discussed. Finally, the comparison of the two translations from the 20th century is accompanied by a comparison with a post-war translation from 1976. The objective of the study was to identify differences and describe how the translators dealt primarily with cultural words, what challenges they faced and how their translation approaches differed.
