Jeruzalém a Athény v politické filozofii Lea Strausse

Abstract

Cílem této diplomové práce je reflektovat část díla Lea Strausse - jednoho z nejkontroverznějších politických filozofů 20.století, konkrétně jeho studium Spinozy a Maimonida. Strauss opakovaně upozorňuje na problematický vztah mezi Jeruzalémem a Athénami, mluví o politicko - theologické otázce, pod kterou se pro Strausse skrývá rozpor mezi filosofií a náboženstvím, tedy poznáním zprostředkovaném Božím zjevením a racionálním poznáním dostupném člověku bez pomoci. Tato diplomová práce se pokusí nastínit, jaký mělo toto dilema a současně objev esoterického psaní u Maimonida vliv na Straussovo pojetí politické filozofie.

The aim of this thesis is to reflect on a part of the work of Leo Strauss, one of the most controversial political philosophers of the 20th century, specifically his study of Spinoza and Maimonides. Strauss repeatedly highlights the problematic relationship between Jerusalem and Athens, referring to the politico-theological question. For Strauss, this question represents the tension between philosophy and religion-that is, knowledge mediated by divine revelation versus rational knowledge accessible to human beings without divine assistance. This thesis will attempt to outline how this dilemma, along with the discovery of esoteric writing in Maimonides, influenced Strauss's conception of political philosophy.
