This fact is all the more striking if we compare it with the situation in the field of research on the history of cartography. Yet the works of land surveyors represent an equally interesting field of research, which can be supported by an extensive source base. The aim of the present dissertation is to provide not only a basic overview of the sur- viving cartographic documents related to land surveyors, which are kept in a number of memory institutions in the Czech Republic, but also the background of the creation of the- se unique works and collections. The focus is not only on primary sources, but secondary sources are also included, which can complete the picture of the functioning of the state official apparatus in relation to the construction, changes and maintenance of territories with historical values in the 17th to 19th centuries.
