Unveiling the Impact of K-pop on Its Audience through the Social Identity and Queer Sociological Theories

Abstract

K-pop sa v posledných rokoch stal veľmi populárnym hudobným žánrom, ktorý si získal srdcia mnohých ľudí z rôznych zázemí, a ľudí rôznych pohlaví a sexualít. Táto práca sa zameriava odhaľovaním spôsobov akými K-pop ovplyvňuje svojich fanúšikov pričom sa sústreďuje na ich sexualitu a sociálnu identitu. Hlavným cieľom tejto práce je zistiť ako K-pop vplýva na týchto fanúšikov v rámci ich denných životov, či je nejaký rozdiel medzi tým ako K-pop vplýva na svojich heterosexuálnych a neheterosexuálnych fanúšikov, či je súčasť K-popovej fanúšikovskej komunity dôležitou súčasťou ich sociálnej identity a či im to dodalo pocit spolupatričnosti, a či je táto K-popová fanúšikovská komunita bezpečným miestom pre ľudí patriacich do LGBTI komunity.

K-pop has become very popular over the years and has charmed many people from different backgrounds and of different genders and sexualities into becoming fans of this music genre. This thesis focuses on unveiling the ways K-pop impacts its fans while focusing on their sexuality and social identity. The aim of this thesis is to find out how K-pop affects these fans in their everyday lives, whether there is a difference between how K-pop influences its heterosexual and non-heterosexual fans, whether being part of the K-pop fan community is an important part of fans' social identities, and gives them a sense of belonging, and lastly whether the K-pop fan community is a safe space for fans who are part of the LGBTQ+ community.
