Román Franze Werfela "Barbara oder die Frömmigkeit" v českých překladech

Abstract

Předmětem diplomové práce je translatologická analýza a komparace dvou českých překladů románu Barbara oder die Frömmigkeit významného spisovatele, pražského rodáka, Franze Werfela. Jedná se o jediné dva existující překlady knihy. První vyšel v roce 1931 a jeho autorem je Josef Richard Marek, druhý pochází z roku 1997 a jeho autorem je Radovan Charvát. Vlastní analýze překladů předchází část věnovaná autorovi a sledovanému románu. Přiblížen je historický, společenský a literární kontext autorova života a vzniku díla. Na základě provedených rešerší je možné konstatovat, že ani jedním z překladů se dosud nikdo podrobněji nezabýval. Práce je příspěvkem k dějinám a ke kritice překladu. Předkládaná práce je rozdělena do několika částí. První kapitola představuje uvedení do zkoumané problematiky, přibližuje cíl a strukturu práce. V druhé kapitole je stručně rekapitulován stav Werfelovského bádání. Kromě životopisných děl je pozornost věnována diplomovým pracím vzniklým na českých a moravských univerzitách a českým i zahraničním odborných studiím a článkům, které se zabývají románem Barbara oder die Frömmigkeit. Třetí kapitola je věnována spisovateli Franzi Werfelovi. The subject of this thesis is a translation analysis and a comparison of two Czech translations of the novel Barbara oder die Frömmigkeit by significant, Prague-born writer Franz Werfel. It is concerned with the only two existing Czech translations. The first one, by Josef Richard Marek, was published in 1931, while the second one by Radovan Charvát was published in 1997. The very translation analysis is preceded by a part concerned with the author and the novel in question. The historical, social and literary context of both the origin of the novel and the life of the author is presented. It can be stated, based on the previous research, that neither of the translations has been examined in detail so far. The thesis is therefore a contribution to the history and critique of translation. The thesis is divided into several parts. The first part introduces the research issues while it also defines the aim and the structure of the thesis. The second chapter is a brief summary of the Werfelian research. In addition to the autobiographical works, the focus is put on the theses originating from Czech and Moravian universities and on both Czech and foreign scientific papers and articles which are concerned with the novel Barbara oder die Frömmigkeit.
