My diploma work called Religious Moral Values in the Czechoslovak Film in 1948 - 1968 deals with occurrence of religious moral values in the filmmaking of the chosen period. The first chapter briefly discusses the history of Czechoslovakia and cultural changes that affected and influenced the society of that time .The chapter brings also the stories and the lot of selected churches and thus it explains the position of a believing man who after the year 1948 was deliberately deprived of his religion by the state authority. This chapter is important for better illustration of the state of society, which was believing and practising until that time. The second chapter analyses and specifies moral values, especially religious moral values. There are also described moral values in relation to the socialistic, respectively totalitarian society. The third chapter deals with the history of the movie and it introduces films as a medium which is able to control the masses. The fourth part deals with the Czechoslovak film at the certain period. The final chapter contains an analysis of individual films by means of my personal interpretation.
