Amerika podle Wenderse (Obraz Ameriky ve filmech Wima Wenderse v kulturologické perspektivě)

Abstract

Tato práce si dává za úkol zachytit a zanalyzovat obraz Ameriky ve filmech Wima Wenderse ve světle nejnovějších poznatků širokého spektra společenských věd. Hlavním rámcem pro mé úvahy je fenomén amerického snu, který - ač pojem neustálený a nijak jasně ohraničený - je základním stavebním kamenem americké společnosti. Tvrdím, že na vývoji v chápání tohoto fenoménu lze identifikovat i charakter politicko-kulturních vztahů mezi Evropou a Amerikou a vysledovat vývoj, jakým tyto vzájemné vztahy v historii procházely. Hlavním úkolem této práce je za prvé, charakterizovat širší rámec pro výzkum daného problému, tedy vývoj ideje amerického snu na historickém pozadí americko - evropských vztahů. Za druhé je to nastínit historický kontext, z něhož vyšla osobnost Wima Wenderse jako člověka i jako filmového režiséra a zároveň tuto osobnost lokalizovat v rámci německé nové vlny, tedy uměleckého proudu, k němuž bývá filmovými historiky a teoretiky přiřazován. Za třetí je to pak samotná analýza problému vývoje obrazu Ameriky ve Wendersových filmech s důrazem na konfrontaci tohoto vývoje se soudobou intelektuální a společenskovědnou tvorbou. This work focuses on the image of America in the films of the German filmmaker Wim Wenders and aims at its analysis in the light of the latest findings and observations coming from a wide range of knowledge of contemporary social studies. The framework for my reflexions and arguments is based on the idea of the American Dream which - although it hasn't been fixedly defined as a term yet - plays a role of the principal cornerstone of the American society. I argue that by considering the development of the idea of the American Dream within a larger framework, it is possible to identify the character of political-cultural relations between Europe and America and trace up important moments in this mutual relationship in the course of time. The primary objective of the work is firstly, to characterize a wider framework for the research of the given problematics which is the development of the idea of the American Dream on the background of European - American relations. Secondly, to outline the historical context which Wim Wenders emerged from and to localize his position within the New German Cinema movement. Thirdly it is the analysis of the development of the image of America in Wenders' s films with the emphasis on the confrontation with the contemporary scholarship.
