Abstract

Magisterská diplomová práce pojednává o obrazu války v Afghánistánu a v Iráku v amerických televizních seriálech. Zabývá se tím, jak a jestli americké televizní seriály reflektují války, na kterých se Spojené státy americké podílí. Rozebírá, jakou roli hrají televizní seriály v životě jedince, a zkoumá jejich potencionální vliv na společnost. Věnuje pozornost televizním seriálům jako možným prostředkům propagandy a shrnuje dosavadní vývoj válečné zábavní produkce. Dokumentuje různé žánry, ve kterých se válka v Afghánistánu či v Iráku odráží. Právě na základě pozorování seriálů různých žánrů, od válečných přes kriminální až po komediální, magisterská práce hodnotí, jakým způsobem je na danou válku v seriálu nahlíženo. Všímá si také, které válce se seriáloví tvůrci více věnují a ke které jsou kritičtější. Diplomová práce v jednotlivých epizodách pozoruje způsob prezentace války, lokaci dějové linie a hlavní protagonisty, zajímá se také o dodržování vojenské terminologie a zobrazování vojenské techniky. V neposlední řadě komparuje fiktivní příběhy, popřípadě jednotlivé motivy, se skutečnými událostmi, které se v průběhu těchto válek staly. V závěru práce shrnuje nejčastější motivy a válečné prvky, dává je do kontextu a komparuje s realitou.

It pays attention to the TV series as a means of propaganda and summarizes the development of war entertainment production. The diploma thesis documents various genres of television series, in which the war in Afghanistan or in Iraq is reflected. Master thesis on the basis of observations of different genres evaluates how the war is seen. Among the genres include war series or crime and medical drama. It notes which war is devoted more attention or which war is seen more critical.
