Přeléčování nevyléčitelně nemocných v terminální fázi nemoci jako etický a ekonomický problém současné společnosti

Abstract

Cílem diplomové práce je nastínit problematiku přeléčování nevyléčitelně nemocných pacientů v terminální fázi nemoci v současné společnosti v kontextu etiky, bioetiky a ekonomických faktorů. Na základě zdravotnických, etických a ekonomických textů se pokusíme analyzovat, zda nynější etické principy, zákonné normy a ekonomická vyspělost současné společnosti dostatečně zaručují každému jedinci takovou lékařskou péči, která je v souladu s lidskou důstojností. Uvědomují si zdravotní pracovníci svou moc i bezmoc v boji se životem a smrtí? Co je vede k nasazování terapie, která nepřináší pacientovi žádný prospěch? Lze důstojně zemřít? A co to znamená? Může mít smrt větší smysl než život? V první části rozpracujeme teoretický základ celé problematiky. V druhé části se tuto problematiku pokusíme analyzovat i pomocí sociologického výzkumu jak mezi všeobecnou populací, tak i mezi zdravotními pracovníky dennodenně stojícími tváří v tvář etickým a ekonomickým výzvám, které mohou vést k přeléčování. Existuje v lékařské společnosti povědomí o přeléčování? Připouští si vůbec nějaká etická dilemata? Jak vnímá společnost vztahy mezi pacienty a lékaři? Ethical dilema and economic aspects of overtreating terminally ill patients in current society Abstract The aim of this thesis is to outline problems of over-treating terminally ill patients in the final stage of their illness in current society in context of ethics, bioethics and economic factors. Based on medical, ethical and economic texts, we will try to analyse if current ethical principles, law standards and economic level of development of current society ensures enough such a medical care to each and every individual in line with human dignity. Do the health workers who treat terminally ill patients realize their power as well as powerlessness when it comes to fighting life and death? What makes them to start and continue such therapy that does not bring any benefit to the patient and what is the purpose to this? Is it possible to die with dignity? Can death be more meaningful in comparison to life? The first part of this thesis will focus on the theoretical point of view of these problems.
