Kolo-nizace: symetrická etnografie rozvojového projektu Kola pro Afriku

Abstract

P edkládaná práce je symetrickou etnografií českého rozvojového projektu Kola pro Afriku, jehož náplní je sb r starých českých kol, jejich opravy, úpravy a odvoz do Gambie. Tam jsou darována partnerským školám, jejichž žák m slouží k dojížd ní. Ve svém výzkumu se zam uji p edevším na úst ední technologii projektu, kola, a jejich performance. V návaznosti na klasické etnografie rozvoje a (p edevším) na studie vycházející z teorie sítí-aktér (ANT) se v jednotlivých terénech, z nichž projekt sestává, postupn zabývám procesem sb ru kol, jejich úpravami a opravami, odvozem do Gambie a jejich místním fungováním. Soust edím se p itom na sociální topologii kol a její prom ny v časoprostoru. Kola se v tomto ohledu postupn jeví jako veteš (tj. disfunkční relikt stabilizované sít ), jako skupinov fluidní a fluidní jednotliv . V práci tedy ukazuji, že se p i technologických transferech m že prom ovat nejen soubor vazeb, kterými je daný objekt tvo en, nýbrž i samotné zp soby, jímž vazby vznikají. Tyto topologické prom ny p itom v p ípad Kol pro Afriku významnou m rou p ispívají k fungování celého projektu. This study is a symmetrical ethnography of the Czech development project Kola pro Afriku (Czech Bikes for Gambian Schools), which involves the collection, repairs, modification and shipment of old Czech bicycles to The Gambia. Once there, they are distributed to partner schools and offered to communing pupils. In my research, I mainly focus on the pivotal technology of the project, bicycles, and their performances. Drawing on classic ethnographies of development and (most importantly) on studies based on the actor-network theory (ANT), I gradually explore the bike collection process, their modifications and repairs, their shipment to The Gambia and their local operations. When doing so, I focus on the social topology of the bicycles and its transformations in the timespace. In this regard, the bicycles gradually appear as junk (i.e. a dysfunctional relict of stabilized networks), as a fluid collectivity and as individually fluid. Thereby, this study shows that technology transfers may lead not only to changes in the set of relations, of which the given object consists, but in the very modes, in which those relations arise.
