Abstract

Název: Vláda ve víře: Příspěvek ke studiu raně středověkých waleských církevních dějin Anotace Diplomová práce se zabývá ranou křesťanskou církví na území dnešního Walesu, konkrétně od pozdní antiky až do počátku 7. století. Podrobně rozebírá celou církevní organizaci, analyzuje její jednotlivé pilíře a sleduje její vliv na formování raně středověkých waleských státních celků. Jelikož se jedná o období obtížné na rekonstrukci, kombinuje diplomová práce několik teorií, hypotéz a různých badatelských metod. První část práce se zabývá christianizací Británie v římském období a mapuje kulturní analogie s raně středověkou waleskou společností. V druhé části práce analyzuje 5. století v Británii a sleduje přelom mezi pořímskou správou a počátkem raně středověké kmenové struktury a křesťanské ostrovní kultury. Třetí část se věnuje církevní struktuře v "době světců" (6. století) a s tím spojeným počátkem některých waleským územních celků. Title: Policy of Faith: Contribution to the study of the early medieval Welsh ecclesiastical history Abstract The thesis studies the early christian church on the land of present Wales, specifically from the late antique practically to the beggining of 7th century. Analyzes in detail the whole ecclesiastical organization, its each of pillars and its influence on formation of the early medieval Welsh state units. Because it is a difficult historical period for a reconstruction, the thesis combines several theories, hypothesis and different researching methods. The first part analyzes the christianization of Britain in roman period and follows its eventual continuity in early medieval welsh society. In second part the thesis analyzes 5th century in Britain and follows turning points between the sub- roman administration and origin of the early medieval tribal structure and the insular christian culture. Third part follows the ecclestical structure in "The Age of Saints" (6th century) and so connected origins of some welsh kingdoms.
