Prostor a postavy v románu Zelený dům (La casa verde)

Abstract

This thesis deals with the space and the characters from the novel La Casa Verde by the Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa. The thesis briefly describes the author's literary work and that the novel was inspired by his own life. First, the work focuses on the Amazonian rainforest called Santa María de Nieva and then on the urban space Piura in Peru. A brothel called Green House is introduced as the title of the novel is based on the name of this house. The main subject of the thesis is the analysis of the traditional Latin American topic of the mutual relation between civilization-barbarism. This topic is observed through space and characters, which are developing simultaneously, therefore these two levels (space and characters) cannot be separated. Both attributes (civilization-barbarism) manifest themselves depending on the space where the characters are situated. The purpose of the thesis is to demonstrate the inferior status of Peruvian women, which is achieved via the novel's female characters, and also to depict the Latin American reality of the 20th century. Diplomová práce se zabývá prostorem a postavami románu Zelený dům / La casa verde peruánského romanopisce Maria Vargase Llosy. Je zde stručně charakterizována literární dráha autora, který se pro román nechal inspirovat svým životem. Práce se nejprve zaměří na prales Santa María de Nieva a následně i městské prostředí, peruánskou Piuru. Souběžně je představen i veřejný dům nazývaný Zelený dům, který se stal námětem pro samotný titul románu. Předmětem zpracování práce je především analýza tradičního latinskoamerického tématu: vztah civilizace-barbarství, které je zkoumáno skrz prostor a postavy zároveň, neboť prostor se vyvíjí společně s postavami, a tak tyto dvě roviny románu od sebe nelze oddělit. Obě polohy (civilizace-barbarství) se projevují v závislosti na tom, kde se postavy zrovna nacházejí. Cílem je i znázornit podřadné postavení peruánských žen, čehož bylo dosaženo prostřednictvím ženský postav románu a zároveň tak vykreslit latinskoamerickou realitu 20.století.
