i. Abstract This dissertation examines the justification of Hostile Environment policies by the Conservative Party, exploring the differences pre- and post-Brexit. It assesses the effectiveness of the policies and their potential role in promoting right-wing extremism. The essay contends that the justification of the Hostile Environment is achieved through securitization practices, with the Conservatives leaning towards right-wing populism and framing migrants as threats. Analysing the discourse; patterns of economic, cultural and criminal-based securitisation emergences, however, there is a noticeable shift post-Brexit where practices escalate. This environment has nurtured conditions for right-wing extremism to thrive. The study utilises a Bourbeaudian theoretical framework. enabling a dual analysis of securitizing discourse and practices. Methodologically, Discursive Practices Analysis supplements theoretical analysis by examining textual mechanisms. The subsequent analysis delves into the practices and discourse from the Cameron to Sunak administrations. Ultimately, the results and discussion sections provide answers to the research question.
