Type II diabetes mellitus. In the theoretical part, we deal with the issue of the patient's concept of illness. Next, we describe the disease Diabetes mellitus and its characteristics, clinical picture, diagnosis, treatment and complications. The theoretical part concludes with the patient's association with the disease from the point of view of nursing and the method of its detection. The empirical part is based on the results of the quantitative standardized questionnaire IPQ-R-CZ and is its extended version. A total of 50 respondents with type II diabetes mellitus took part in the research. The questionnaire investigates symptoms, the concept of the disease, the patient's opinion about the disease and possible causes of the disease.

Dále popisujeme onemocnění Diabetes mellitus a to jeho charakteristiku, klinický obraz, diagnostiku, léčbu a komplikace. Teoretickou část uzavírá pacientovo pojení nemoci z pohledu ošetřovatelství a metody jeho zjišťování. Empirická část se opírá o výsledky kvantitativního standardizovaného dotazníku IPQ- R-CZ a jedná se o jeho rozšířenou verzi. Na výzkumu se celkem podílelo 50 respondentů s onemocněním diabetes mellitus II. typu. Dotazník zjišťuje symptomy, pojetí nemoci, pacientův názor na nemoc a možné příčiny vzniku tohoto onemocnění.
