This diploma thesis will provide a description of the M phoneme from articulatory, acoustic-auditory, and phonological point of view. The structure of the theoretical background will be that of a comparative study of the /r/ phoneme in the English and Czech language. In the research part, rhoticity will be examined in practice in graduates and students of English language and literature at the Faculty of Education of Charles University in Prague. Tato diplomová práce poskytne popis fonému /r/ z artikulačního, akusticko-auditivního a fonologického pohledu. Teoretická část je napsána formou srovnávací studie fonému /r/ v anglickém a českém jazyce.
