Analýza se opírá o tři prameny zabývající se teorií uměleckého překladu. Nedostatky nalezené v překladu jsou zmapovány a předloženy návrhy ke zlepšení. This paper analyses the Slovak translation of the book by Christine Nöstlinger Wir pfeifen auf den Gurkenkönig (The Cucumber King) by Katarína Hatalová. The analysis is based on three sources that deal with the theory of literary translation. Flaws identified in the translation are evaluated and suggestions for a new translation are made. Beside the actual analysis, which is divided into four chapters, this paper also proposes foundation for the new translation. Key words: translation, analysis, Christine Nöstlinger
