Proměny zpravodajských hodnot fotografiíí v ročenkách Týdne a Lidových novin

Abstract

Tématem diplomové práce je porovnání fotografií v ročenkách časopisu Týden a Lidových novin z hlediska zpravodajských hodnot, jež stanovili Johan Galtung a Mari Rugeová a jejich následovníci, i dalších vlastností, které určují výběr zpravodajských fotografií. Ročenky pro vybraná média slouží ke shrnutí jejich roční produkce, jsou výběrem toho, co daná redakce považuje za nejdůležitější zpravodajské události uplynulého roku. Co se obrazové stránky týče, disponují ročenky oproti běžným vydáním značným prostorem pro fotografie. Těch je v ročenkách mnohem více a větší je i jejich průměrná velikost. Práce se podrobně zabývá fotografiemi ve dvou párech ročenek, mezi jejichž vydáním je devítiletý odstup. Díky tomu je možné pomocí kvantitativní analýzy porovnat, k jakým změnám v čase došlo. Podstatnou část práce tvoří zkoumání toho, jak v redakční rutině výběr fotografií probíhá. Tuto část osvětlují rozhovory s profesionály - obrazovými redaktory, či fotoeditory. V nich je kladen důraz na samotnou podstatu práce fotoeditora, faktory, jež jeho práci ovlivňují a limitují, a v neposlední řadě i na to, jakým způsobem fotografie vybírá. Na základě těchto rozhovorů můžeme stanovit další vlastnosti, které by měla zpravodajská fotografie splňovat.

The topic of the thesis is the comparison of photographs in year-books of magazine Týden and year-books of Lidové noviny newspaper from the point of view of the News values, as set by Johan Galtung and Mari Ruge and their successors, and also with respect to other qualities and values which are crucial in the process of selection of news photographs. The year-books of chosen media are the summaries of their production of given year, they are the selection of events which are considered the most important of that year. From the visual point of view, the year-books have much more space devoted to photography than their standard issues. The number of photographs and their size are therefore much higher. The thesis compares two pairs of year-books with a nine-year interval between them. This makes us compare the shifts and changes of their qualities in time, using a quantitative analysis research. The important part of the thesis is devoted to the routines of editorial staff, who are responsible for the selection of photographs. To explain this part, we used interviews with photo-editors or image editors.
