Komentovaný překlad: Ron Rosenbaum, Explaining Hitler. Harper Perennial, 1999, část třetí kapitoly.

Abstract

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to translate a part of the third chapter of the book Explaining Hitler by the American author Ron Rosenbaum. The selected excerpt discusses the German newspaper the Munich Post that was being published until 1933 and focuses on the crucial role its editors played during Hitler's rise to power. The thesis also includes a translation analysis of the source text, a description of the translation method, a typology of translation procedures and shifts as well as an analysis of the translation problems.

Cílem této bakalářské práce je překlad části třetí kapitoly z knihy Explaining Hitler amerického autora Rona Rosenbauma. Vybraný úsek pojednává o německém deníku Mnichovské listy vydávaném do roku 1933 a blíže zachycuje roli, kterou sehráli jeho redaktoři v klíčovém období Hitlerova mocenského vzestupu. Kromě samotného překladu je součástí práce analýza výchozího textu, popis překladatelské metody, typologie překladatelských postupů a posunů včetně rozboru překladatelských problémů.
