Abstract

Cílem této bakalářské práce je představit překlad vybrané části knihy The British Empire: A Very Short Introduction od britského historika Ashleyho Jacksona, která vyšla v univerzitním nakladatelství Oxford University Press. Tato práce má dvě části. První tvoří překlad třetí kapitoly a části kapitoly šesté z anglického do českého jazyka. Druhou je komentář k předkladu, který mimo jiné obsahuje analýzu výchozího textu podle Christiane Nord, popis metody překladu, typologii překladatelských problémů na rovinách gramaticko- syntaktické, lexikální a pragmatické a typologii překladatelských posunů. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to introduce a Czech translation of an extract from the book The British Empire: A Very Short Introduction, written by British historian Ashley Jackson and published at Oxford University Press. This thesis consists of two parts. The first part presents a Czech translation of Chapter 3 and an extract from Chapter 6 of the book. The second part contains a commentary on the translation, including an analysis of the source text based on Christiane Nord's analysis model, a description of the method of translation, examples of parts that were problematic and interesting in terms of grammar and syntax, lexis, or pragmatics, as well as a typology of translation shifts.
